You probably saw cakes on the Internet, decorated with colorful soap bubbles, or giant pearls, or balls for a dry pool. But it never occurred to you that you can create such beauty yourself without using special equipment. Well, it's time to try!YouTube | Irisha Raphael
You will need:
- air balloons;
- instant gelatin (1 sachet for each color);
- sugar (one teaspoon for each color);
- dyes: white gel and color
- Candurin Pearl Dye
- food glitter - as needed;
- fine cocktail straws
- air balloon pump
- stand for drying pigs
- stand for drying the finished balls (for example, thoroughly washed and dried egg tray);
- nail scissors;
- tweezers (you can do without it);
- some vegetable oil.
We form "pigs"
Using a pump, inflate a ball to about the size of a small peach or large apricot.YouTube | Irisha Raphael
Turn it several times at the base, then fix it with a thread, repeatedly wrapping it in a circle. Insert a cocktail straw in the base and tape it down with spiral movements.YouTube | Irisha Raphael
Make sure that the ball does not dangle on a stick and immediately straightened, if you slightly press it. Inflate as many balls as you like.
Put some vegetable oil on your hands and gently roll each ball between your palms. Do not use sponges or cotton pads - they leave marks. If you did everything right, the balls will glitter, but the oil will not drip from them.
Prepare a gelatin mixture
Take a 30 gram bag of dry instant gelatin and fill it with warm water in a ratio of one to three. For one bag will need 9 tablespoons of water. Stir the mixture until it turns into a mush.
Leave it to swell for 10 minutes. Then heat the gelatin in a water bath, or send in a microwave for half a minute. The temperature of the mass, ready to work, should be about 60 degrees.YouTube | Irisha Raphael
Add half a teaspoon of sugar and one drop of flavoring to it and mix.
Now we give the desired color. First, add one drop of white gel dye so that the balls are not transparent and stir the mass until it completely turns white.YouTube | Irisha Raphael
Then drip one drop of the dye of the desired color. If you want to achieve a saturated color, the dye will need more.YouTube | Irisha Raphael
Mix again until a uniform color is added and add the Candirin Pearl dye.
Pass the mixture through a sieve to remove all undissolved sugar granules.
Getting to the fun
Heat the mass again to 60 degrees. Remove with a teaspoon all bubbles from its surface. Wear rubber gloves. Take the ball by the wand and dip it into the gelatinous mass, so that it does not reach the scotch by half a centimeter.YouTube | Irisha Raphael
Then take the ball as close as possible to the base, lift it, let the liquid drain for two seconds, sharply turn the ball with the wand down and shake it a little.YouTube | Irisha Raphael
Insert the ball into the stand for drying the blanks.
IMPORTANT. To give the balls a density, apply two to three layers of gelatin on each. Before applying each subsequent layer, preheat the mass to 60 degrees.
When the blanks are dry, remove the rubber gloves and apply glitter to the balls. Leave to dry for a day. The finished ball should ring slightly when tapped, like a Christmas tree toy.YouTube | Irisha Raphael
We remove too much
Remove the rubber blanks from the jelly balls. For this manicure scissors cut a semicircle around the base.YouTube | Irisha Raphael
The bursting ball is easy to separate from the gelatin and, most likely, will gather in a pile on a stick. If this does not happen, pry the rubber with tweezers or the same scissors with which you cut it - it is easily separated from the gelatin.YouTube | Irisha Raphael
You have a gelatinous ball in your hands with a small hole about 1 cm in diameter. If there are dents left, smooth them from the inside with your little finger or tweezers. Jelly clots that have formed along the edge of the hole, cut.
Reliable and tasty waterproofing
Since gelatin is soluble in water, the balls should be “isolated” with glaze. Melt chocolate chips (white or black) and dip the base of each ball into the resulting mass. Dry the finished balls on the stand. Now gelatin will not melt when you put the decoration on the wet surface of the cake. Dry the balls on a stand for drying.YouTube | Irisha Raphael
And finally ...
Decorate the cake with balls, for example, like this:
The guests will never believe that you have created this magnificence with your own hands, and they will pry the contacts of the pastry chef from you for a long time!
